Follow the riddle…

On public land, where paths unfold,

A treasure lies, both new and old.

Between two trails, on a quiet slope,

Where trees stand tall, and roots elope.

Off the path, where few have gone,

Beneath the soil, the earth is drawn.

Red and crystal, the earth’s embrace,

A secret waits in this hidden place.

Close by a marsh, where waters creep,

And beavers work, their secrets keep.

Where the trail bends, its course to mend,

Ten paces off, where the trees extend.

At the foot of one, facing southeast,

A box lies buried, its secrets released.

Inside you’ll find, with wonder wide,

A tooth from a giant, where the earth does hide.

Clues…

UPDATE:

Where stone casts shadows and echoes abide,

South of the peak with granite’s pride.

East of a lake that mirrors the sky,

On a gentle slope where secrets lie.

Easy to reach, where the path bends,

The treasure awaits where the journey ends.

Buried shallowly at the foot of a tree,

A hidden prize for those who see.

Or maybe not—who’s to say?

I could be bluffing all the way.

The treasure is located within 150 miles from Columbia, SC, it is buried in a public location, and it can be found with or without a metal detector.
